‘Latte’ a poem inspired by The Hen House & Egg Shed farm cafe.

Latte

Not far from the monkey puzzle tree

A colourful corner awaits-

In rainbow huts,

Warm glow upon crowns

Crumbs upon knees

And life upon lips.

Nearby, cogs and springs

Rows of tiny windows

Proudly display the offer of a sunshine breakfast.

A shining silver vendor, dispensing pullets for dinky soldiers.

The special kind,

For lazy mornings and muddy walks.

To pool in scrambled mess on countertops,

And bind kin in homespun memories.

Clutch tightly, a treasure chest of yolks

To carry into the weekend…
