I learnt to run again.
Different body, shaped by time and a full life.
Feet heavy and legs wobbly.
Time for finding my feet, gradually these muscles remember.
They work to familiar pace –
carry me through community.
Spot neighbours on pavements and friends through window panes.
I’m running for me, for myself.
Though, I’ll compare in trepidation
A minor flirtation…
…With running shoes.
